How to measure a blind correctly

  • Use a good quality tape measure to ensure your measuring is accurate. Poor quality brands will give you inaccurate measurements
  • Take all measurements to the nearest millimetre – do not round off your measurements
  • Take all measurements twice ensuring that you get the same result each time

The blind is installed inside the window frame. This measurement must be very accurate to make sure the blind will fit in the space.

INSIDE WIDTH (Horizontal measurement): Measure from the top left hand inside edge of the window frame to the right-hand side where the blind will be installed. Then repeat halfway down the window and also at the window sill.

INSIDE DROP (Vertical measurement): Measure the exact window height from the inside top of the frame to the window sill.

The blind is installed on window frame, but outside of the recess.

OUTSIDE WIDTH on frame – Start with the horizontal measurement and measure from the left edge of the frame to the right edge (so it includes the frame).

OUTSIDE DROP on frame – Start your measure from the top of the window frame edge, then make your drop down to the point you want your blind to finish (below your window sill or at your window sill).

The blind is installed PAST the window frame (above the window frame).

OUTSIDE WIDTH PAST frame – Start with the horizontal measurement and measure from the top left point where you want your blind to start, to the top right point where it will finish. OR add 50mm past the frame on each side as indicated in the diagram above.

OUTSIDE DROP PAST frame – Start your measurement 50mm above the window frame, then make your drop down to the point you want your blind to finish (below your window sill or at your window sill).

Consider front roll if handles or mullions are in the way of the fabric dropping down. Choosing back roll will mean the reverse side of the fabric will show at the top of the blind.

Front roll: the fabric rolls off the front of the blind.

Back roll: the fabric rolls off the back of the blind.

Operation by either chain or motor.

Chain: a chain's default length is 2/3 of the blind drop unless advised. If different, please specify in the special instructions field.

Rechargeable motor: you will need to add a motor charger cable to your order. You will also need to choose your remote – either a hand-hold remote or wall mounted remote, or a smartphone App Hub to control from the smartphone.

This is the side you’d like your blind chain control on, or the side of the nearest power point/usb outlet to plug in your charging cord (usually every 4- 6months with normal operation).
